Another week of workouts down again!
Thursday of course was Crossfit. We started out with more damn cleans again. I felt like I had a better handle on them this time though. Or Jasmine wasn’t as hard on me as Lionel was. After completing 3 rounds of 3 at 85% of our max (I just used 35lbs), we tested for our max dips and toes (or knees) to bar. I seem to have gotten worse at these! It was a struggle to make it to 6 of each, which was my max last time. Um, strength? Where have you gone?? After all that (doesn’t that seem like a workout itself?) it was time for the WOD: 3 rounds of 30 double unders (or 60 skips), 30 dumbbell or kettlebell lunges at 10-20% body weight, and 15 push press at 50%. I rolled with 20lbs dumbbells and 45lbs bar for the press. I managed to finish in just over 8 minutes, despite the fact that my thighs were on FIRE during the first round of lunges. Apparently it’s been awhile since I’ve lunged.
Friday afternoon I had every intention of going home for some cardio. But as the afternoon wore on, I wore out. When I finally left work it was all I could do to keep my eyes open so I opted for a nap before exercising my right to be lazy and ordered pizza and a movie with my best friend. If you need a good movie, I highly recommend We Bought a Zoo, so adorable!).
Between the market and a quick trip to Calgary Saturday, there was no time for a workout there so I counted my house cleaning, laundry and grocery blitz on Sunday as my weekend workout.
Monday the weather was too perfect to not get outside for a run. Sadly my calf muscles tightened halfway through the first kilometer. This cannot continue if I am running a race next month!! I know it has to be pregnancy related. A friend suggested it could be from lack of calcium so I need to be more mindful to include calcium rich foods in my diet. Bring on the spinach and broccoli baby! Besides that I know I’m doing everything right, striking properly, keeping my chest up and shoulders back. Not sure what else the problem could be! If you have any insight, please let me know!
Tuesday’s Crossfit workout was a good one. We started with back squats (75% of max). I rolled with 85lbs again. Don’t want to push it. Felt good though. The WOD was 3 rounds of 15 dumbbell thrusters and 400m run. Thrusters were suppose to be 10-20% of your body weight. I have no clue what my weight is at currently but I went with 15lbs each. I wasn’t sure if 20lbs would be too much but I think I could have done it. The run felt good despite being s-l-o-w, my legs only started to get tight on the last round and I walked it out. It was super muggy outside though so it took me a long time to cool down.
Today marks my last yoga class for this session but I’ve gone ahead and registered for the next set. There’s a new instructor this time so it will be interesting to see if it’s any different. Yoga in the Park has started up again and I never made it out last summer due to the times I went to Crossfit but I’m hoping maybe I can join a few sessions here and there this summer.
