I’ve mentioned before how much I love the little city I live in. There’s so much uniqueness to it that I love, from the trail system and parks, to the local shops and eateries. Twitter makes meeting new friends from the community and discovering new local gems even easier.
This spring there was rumblings on Twitter of a new ice cream truck coming to town. Sure enough, the adorable Andrea Wiseman created Peppermint Andy’s, the hippest ice cream truck in town. Since scooping began in May, Twitter has been a buzz with people searching out the truck’s location to try the locally brewed ice cream concoctions.
Yes, I said locally brewed. All ingredients are locally grown whether you choose vanilla, cookie dough or perhaps maple bacon ice cream! Last weekend I went on a mission looking for the truck to try this maple bacon flavor but my efforts were futile. I must have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
However, I got lucky this week at the first downtown market of the year. I snuck away from work for a few minutes to grab some fresh produce and couldn’t resist stopping at the truck for a treat. It wasn’t ice cream I went for though (shocking for a pregnant lady, I know), it was the Lavender Lemonade popsicle.
Let me tell you, this thing was heaven. So sweet and refreshing, I was instantly hooked. I suggested that perhaps the lovely Miss Andy could park her wagon downtown on Friday so I could have another. Thankfully she met my request and parked one street over from my office during lunch time today. Today I tried the mojito popsicle. Dear Lord, this poor girl isn’t going to be able to keep me from her truck anymore. I’m a mojito fanatic and this popsicle definitely hit the mark.
I’m starting to think I may never taste the ice creams because the popsicles are too fantastic to give up! This definitely deserves to be my favorite of Friday (and Wednesday too!).
I encourage you to look up Peppermint Andy’s on Facebook and Twitter to stay updated on her whereabouts so you can score yourself a sweet treat. Don’t blame me if you get hooked, and Andrea I apologize ahead of time if you get tired of me following you around this summer!
